In-Home ABA Therapy on the Peninsula and Coastside

Legacy Behavioral Collective provides in-home Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children and teens with autism and other developmental differences in Redwood City, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Woodside, Portola Valley, Half Moon Bay and nearby Coastside communities. Every session is delivered directly by founder Juanita Traver Stine, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with 30 years of experience. Support starts with the routines that shape your family's day: mornings, meals, toileting, chores and transitions.

Who in-home ABA is for

In-home ABA fits families whose hardest moments happen at home, and children who learn best in a familiar place before practicing skills elsewhere. We serve children and teens from 3 through 18 years, with programming tailored to developmental stage and family goals.

  • Families who want smoother mornings, mealtimes, bedtimes or after-school transitions
  • Children building daily living skills such as toileting, mealtime participation and simple chores
  • Children learning to communicate their needs during everyday routines
  • Families who are new to ABA, changing providers, or waiting for other services to begin

For babies and toddlers, see our early intervention support for ages 0-3.

What in-home ABA sessions look like

Work begins with an ABA assessment. Juanita learns about your child's strengths, needs and daily routines, discusses your family's priorities and observes behavior at home. You leave with practical, prioritized goals and a roadmap of next steps. The assessment supports treatment planning and family guidance; it is not a medical diagnosis.

  1. Choose the routine that would make this week feel easier
  2. Break the skill into small, achievable steps
  3. Practice inside the real routine, using visual supports and your child's interests
  4. Coach you to run the same steps between sessions
  5. Review the data together and adjust the plan

What we work on at home

Routines

Predictable mornings, after-school hours and bedtimes that the whole family can follow.

Toileting

Step-by-step toileting plans that match your child's readiness and your household schedule.

Mealtime

Calmer, more predictable meals and more comfortable participation at the family table.

Chores

Simple household tasks that build independence and a sense of contribution.

Transitions

Ending a favorite activity, moving to the next one and leaving the house with less stress.

Visual supports

Visual schedules, scripts and timers made for your home and your child.

How your family is involved

Parents are partners. Juanita models each step, then coaches you while you try it, so strategies keep working between visits. Siblings, grandparents and other caregivers can join in, because progress should not depend on one person carrying everything alone.

How progress is tracked

Every goal is written so you can see it change. Juanita records data on the goals you set together, and you can follow them in the secure family portal along with session summaries, simple next steps to try at home, and downloadable visuals and handouts. If a strategy is not working, the plan changes.

Where we provide in-home ABA

In-home sessions take place in your own home across the Peninsula and Coastside. Coverage for your address is confirmed during the free consultation.

When skills are steady at home, they can carry into community-based ABA.

Cost and payment

Legacy Behavioral Collective is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance. In-home support can be booked as hourly behavioral consulting or through a program: the 10-Hour Foundation, the 30-Day Intensive (10 hours a week), the 30-Day Super Intensive (20 hours a week) or the 90-Day Committed Program (240 hours over three months).

For qualifying clinical services, we issue monthly superbills with NPI and common ABA CPT codes (97151, 97153, 97155, 97156) for out-of-network reimbursement. HSA/FSA funds may apply when services are part of a medically necessary ABA treatment plan and meet your plan's criteria. Reimbursement is not guaranteed.

See what each option includes on our ABA programs page.

Questions families ask about in-home ABA

Who provides in-home ABA sessions?

Sessions are delivered directly by Juanita Traver Stine, BCBA, the founder of Legacy Behavioral Collective, who has 30 years of experience. The same BCBA who designs your child's plan works with your child and coaches you, which keeps strategies consistent from one visit to the next.

Is the free consultation an assessment?

No. The free 30-minute consultation is a conversation about your child's needs and your goals, general ABA questions and possible next steps, so we can both decide whether we are a good fit. It is not a full assessment or treatment planning session. If you move forward, the ABA assessment comes next.

We are on a waitlist for another ABA provider. Can you help?

Many families contact us while they wait, sometimes for months, for other ABA services to begin. The consultation helps you understand how we could support your child during that gap, for example through parent coaching and community-based support. Some families continue working with us while they wait.

Can in-home ABA continue at school or in the community?

Yes. Most sessions start at home, then extend to school or daycare (with permission) and to community settings such as parks, stores and appointments, so skills carry over to real-life routines. The 30-Day Intensive, for example, combines home and community support with school coordination.
